Surgical Site infections are also quite high up to 15% of the infections in the hospital depending on the type of surgery and the status of the patient. So these infections normally are acquired by the patients from the flora of their own skin or from the operation Theatre - either through air, contact by staff or equipment. The contamination by these organisms can vary with the length of the procedure.
